Get to Know your Mental Health, Employee Assistance and Life Insurance Benefits

Members of the Multi Union Security Trust (MUST) have access to benefits relating to mental health, employee assistance and life insurance. These valuable benefits are provided through Anthem Blue Cross.

Mental Health Care

This benefit, previously provided through MHN, is now part of your medical benefits through Anthem Blue Cross. To take advantage of the mental health benefit, call Anthem at (800) 888-8288 or visit anthem.com/ca.

Employee Assistance Program

The Anthem Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides solutions to help you balance work and life through confidential and easily accessible services. Accompanying an article on suicide causes and prevention, the July-August 2018 edition of the Trust newsletter provided information about Anthem’s EAP Crisis Line, (800) 999-7222. Professional clinical consultants are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Other EAP services include:

  • Face-to-face counseling

  • Legal assistance

  • Financial assistance

  • Identity theft recovery

  • Crisis consultation

  • Tobacco cessation

  • Dependent care and daily living resources

  • Access to the myStrength online and mobile health club

More information about this Program can be found on the Eligibility & Benefits pages. To obtain EAP benefits, call (800) 999-7222 or visit the Anthem EAP site and enter the code “MUST TRUST”.

In the event of a DOT violation due to substance abuse, contact the Substance Abuse Program, at (888) 792-2727, ext. 121, and identify yourself as a member of the Multi Union Security Trust (MUST).

Life Insurance

Members can take advantage of a $50,000 life insurance benefit through Anthem Blue Cross Group Term Life Insurance. It is important that you designate the beneficiary for this benefit.

As long as you are working, you will still have benefits after age 65 — benefits do not reduce due to age. All life insurance benefits end at retirement.

If you leave your job for any reason, you may be able to change your group life coverage to an individual policy. You must apply for coverage and pay the first month’s premium for the individual policy within 31 days of the last day you were employed.

More detailed information about each of these benefits can be found on the Eligibility & Benefits page.
